A month ago I promised to choose 1 horse anywhere in the world to go to and help make a big change! I always completely overwhelmed by all the messages and the realisation that there are so many horses that are struggling. I am so happy to share this space with horse lovers and professionals who really want to be the change that is needed!

I offered some of you free consultations, special prices but there was only one horse I felt would really need this most right now. That is why I will travel to @cherylrubenzer and the horse Jake in the USA. Let’s see if we can really change this horses life in one day!

Horses allow us to bring out different sides of us. For me the child like wonder and play that rises brings me closer to life and my relationship with my herd ❤️🙏

Making hay together…. It can make or break you especially if you have limited time because of the ⛈️ coming in.

The past days have been about hay, and we are so lucky to have our friends over that helped us in the hot sun to get 500 packages of hay inside in 1 day!

Even when machines broke down (yes plural) and I got a heat stroke, one of our friends really hurt her leg and we had to take turns to different parts of the process to get trough it. We did!! And for me and Wout? We really got closer together trough it all ❤️❤️❤️ I said yes!! To the face mask ✨

When I come to meet a horse I will check and dubble check to see if the horse is currently in the fight or flight mode, communicating or if the protective mechanism is showing up.

And then of course we still have to support and fix the issue. In this case this horse reacted strongly to distortion in communication and relation causing him to react with continuous stress in the body. By simply clearing the communication and relationship dynamics he started to find his safe space.

A few days later he started laying down and sleeping in the herd, softening and opening up in the body and emotion and both him and his human finding back the joy in life together. ❤️🙏

For me as a trauma specialist for horses there are big tells to find out! But to do so you have to understand horses, their needs and behavioural patterns. This lovely male horse showed very few signs of trauma and a lot more distortion in communication and relationship.

He did not need more support or care for his stress, he simply needed some clearing up in the communication. And the most wonderful thing is, that after our session he started to lay down and sleep in the herd, communicate differently with humans and horses around him and experience less stress and more freedom. Can you imagine?!

That way I can see the behaviour with both of us having enough space and safety. When I came for this beautiful horse it’s human was afraid he may experienced stress and tried to cope… but I found out something completely different about this horse…

Before we learn to verbalise we are all sentient, aware and communicative on an other level. When spent time with horses you will notice that there is a familiar sometimes even nostalgic feeling coming up. It is a remembrance of our first language and way of communication.

Especially in times where analytical thinking, behaving and saying the ”right things” are being modelled as ”normal” it can be freeing to come back to the reality that we are all animals and our first natural language is sense.
